Tauranga - Bay of Plenty

Local Activites

Tauranga is situated in the Bay of Plenty. The surrounding clear pristine waters offer numerous oceanic based activities including swimming with dolphins, diving, game fishing and surfing. The area features many first class golf courses and there is white water rafting, jet boating and 4 WD thrills for the adventurous. Alternatively, a relaxing time can be spent visiting a winery or soaking in either hot mineral or the unique hot salt water pools. Tauranga has restaurants, cafes and shopping precincts.

It is little wonder the area is called "The Coast with the Most"

FERNLAND SPA

This geothermal pool complex is situated in 2.5 hectares of spectacular bush and park like grounds. There is one large main pool and 8 private pools.
The pools are 100% pure, crystal clear natural mineral water of excellent quality. All pools have a continuous flow of fresh mineral water. Soaking in mineral water is well documented to be beneficial to health.
They offer a uniquely New Zealand experience to visitors, the setting and standards being second to none. They host groups of up to 200 for barbeques and picnics. They also offer therapeutic massage by appointment.
Open every day from 10.00am to 10.00pm, excluding Christmas and Boxing Day.
TE PUNA QUARRY PARK

Walking tracks, speciality plant areas, panoramic views, outdoor sculptures, picnic areas, ponds, cliffs and vintage machinery are just some of the attractions of Te Puna Quarry Park. Plantings include natives, palms, irises, cactus and succulents, heritage roses, general ornamentals and a fantastic display of over 3000 cymbidium orchids. The Park is being developed by volunteers and was the 2003 winner of the national Trustpower Community Award. The park is open daily and entry is free, but this community project relies on membership, donations and sponsorship for funding. A magical place - come for an hour, but we believe you will want to stay for ever!
