Regional Activities
New Zealand's spectacular landscape offers many scenic attractions.
You can enjoy great views from the comfort of a tower, gondola, or cable
car. At 328 metres high, Auckland's Sky Tower is New Zealand's tallest
building. From the observation decks you can enjoy excellent views of
the city, Hauraki Gulf, and Waitemata and Manukau Harbours. Computers in
the observation deck provide fascinating information about the tower.
SKYLINE GONDOLA
Rotorua's Skyline Gondola takes you up nearly 500 metres to a fun
park, where you can enjoy spectacular views of Lake Rotorua and the
city. The Christchurch Gondola travels up to the Port Hills summit,
where you can enjoy superb views of Christchurch City, Banks Peninsula,
the Canterbury Plains and the Southern Alps. Queenstown's Skyline
Gondola travels up 450 metres to the Skyline Complex which offers
incredible views of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables. While you're up
there you can enjoy a meal, try the luge, and watch tandem parachutists
float past! Wellington's Cable Car is a great way to see the city and
its beautiful harbour. And you can enjoy a meal and a stroll through the
botanic gardens at the top.
WHITE ISLAND
Visit White Island at Whakatane in the Bay of Plenty by boat or
helicopter. This active volcano rises majestically out of the Pacific
Ocean and offers some amazing photographic opportunities as you will see
if you visit our website and links.
A visit to White Island is very often the scenic highlight of a trip
to New Zealand. If you are game, walk up the crater floor which rises
only 50 metres above sea level. Tour operators provide the necessary
safety equipment for those wishing to experience the power of nature at
first hand.
